Jewellery Design

This series explores the challenges of capturing movement in objects. As a dance artist for over 25 years, my work deals in the intricacies and complexities of the moving body and how it communicates. As a jeweller I return these messages to the body as wearable objects.

The methods I use to choreograph movement are the methods I use to draw. These drawings are a bridge between dance and the object. I make these objects in wire, whose strength, flexibility and linearity express the speed, direction, spontaneity, weight and weightlessness of these works – these ‘wearable moments in time’.

As my work continues to vibrate between creating movement and jewellery objects, my challenge is to continue to explore how each medium informs the other, creating a conversation between the transitory and the solid.
